Submission Guidelines

Before submitting a post, go to the contact page and briefly note what you are interested in writing about. The editor will get back to you within a day or two for further feedback. When the proposal is accepted, please follow the below guidelines for drafting and submitting your post.

Guidelines for posts
1. No more than 800 words. We want quick posts that people can read in about 5-10 minutes. Probably an ideal would be closer to 500 words.

2. Posts should examine rhetorical aspects of political speech or writing (and, when appropriate, uses of images, procedure, or other modes that can be construed as rhetorical) that are particularly manipulative. You do not have to restrict your posts to overt connections to doublespeak or propaganda.

3. Use citations of academic work sparingly. When there is a situation where a citation is warranted, link to material freely available when possible.

4. Submit by email or complete a draft post in WordPress at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled day to post (assume posts will be published about 10am eastern time the day of, so, please have draft ready by 10am the day prior). The preference would be that you are a contributor with a WordPress account so your post can more easily appear with a byline.
